Jakob Hess
Pronouns: He/Him/His
Growing up, Jakob thought he was going to be an author. A DataCamp pilot in a college course on Congress, though, accidentally introduced him to RStudio. He now helps public affairs clients translate research into compelling stories.
Jakob has worked extensively with political data and surveys on local, state, and federal campaigns. He got his start as a field organizer in Pennsylvania and directed strategy for a Cambridge city council race under a distinct single transitive vote system. Statewide, Jakob contributed to Democratic wins up and down the ballot in 2022 as a deputy data director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party and embedded with the DSCC in Georgia for that cycle’s runoffs. Most recently, Jakob was a Regional Analytics Director at the DCCC for the 2024 cycle, advising battleground Congressional races across the Midwest. In between campaigns, Jakob was lucky enough to live out his Sam Seaborn speechwriting dream at West Wing Writers.
Jakob is an alumnus of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs. He attended Orange Coast College in southern California, where he received a quality education for a reasonable price. He graduated summa cum laude from Lafayette College, where he received a quality education.
In his free time, you can find Jakob at a cash game at MGM or a Live! poker tournament. He is an Alamo Drafthouse regular and would love it if you asked him about his latest cross-country road trip.
