This week, GSG hosted its latest edition of “The Inside Scoop with GSG” featuring Andrew Kimball, President & CEO of New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC). The event was moderated by GSG Senior Vice President Tim Roberts and the conversation explored key initiatives aimed at revitalizing New York City’s economy and enhancing quality of life for all New Yorkers through inclusive growth and sustainability.

He emphasized the administration’s vision for The Harbor of the Future, transforming the city’s waterfront into a cornerstone of economic growth, job creation, and environmental justice. This includes major projects like the Brooklyn Marine Terminal, which are key to advancing NYC’s green economy. The Harbor of the Future initiative reimagines the city’s waterfront not just as an economic hub but as a symbol of sustainability, fostering innovation and collaboration to tackle climate change and create lasting opportunities for New Yorkers.
Kimball also touched on the New York Climate Exchange on Governors Island, which brings together universities to address climate challenges. He highlighted the importance of addressing New York City’s housing crisis by increasing density and ensuring affordable housing options for all. And he noted that community engagement and smart growth are key to balancing the city’s development needs with its residents’ quality of life.
The event concluded with Kimball expressing optimism about the city’s future, emphasizing NYC’s record labor force participation and continued business formation.
