GSG hosts Gateway Development Commission CEO Kris Kolluri, to give an update on The Hudson Tunnel Project

Gateway Development Commission (GDC) CEO Kris Kolluri was the featured speaker at the latest Inside Scoop policy breakfast, GSG’s speaker series featuring prominent leaders from New York City and State.

The Gateway Program is the most urgent infrastructure project in the nation. Construction is underway in New York and New Jersey, and GDC expects to finalize a Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA) that will secure federal funding for the project soon. Kolluri provided an update on the ongoing construction and outlined the GDC’s plans for the rest of 2024.

Appointed as GDC’s CEO in July 2022, Kolluri’s tenure has been defined by a disciplined approach to meeting key benchmarks on schedule and a steadfast commitment to transparency.

Kolluri emphasized how critical the Hudson Tunnel Project will be for the New York/New Jersey region and the entire nation. The project will create 95,000 jobs and drive nearly $20 billion in economic activity during construction. Once complete, it will benefit generations of travelers along the Northeast Corridor, which stretches from Washington, D.C. to Boston.

He also noted the value of special-purpose entities that are focused solely on executing a single project for building megaprojects on time and within budget.

With heavy construction scheduled to begin this summer, the GDC is on the verge of entering a new phase of the Hudson Tunnel Project. Kolluri’s visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to the project during this critical moment will ensure it not only transforms the link between New York and New Jersey, but also sets a new standard for infrastructure projects across the nation.
