The GSG Political team is thrilled with last night’s Democratic victories in New Jersey, Virginia, and across the country. We were fortunate to be the pollster for the gubernatorial campaigns of both Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger and advised numerous other successful campaigns. It was an honor to contribute to these historic wins, helping elect the first female governor of Virginia and the first Democratic woman governor of New Jersey.

GSG has been a proud partner of Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill since she first ran for Congress in 2018. In 2025, Sherrill won both a competitive, six-person primary and a targeted general election to keep the New Jersey governor’s seat in Democratic control. Sherrill faced historic headwinds in her campaign – the last time the same party won the governor’s race three times in a row was 1961. Sherrill overcame these odds with a disciplined campaign focused on why voters can trust her strong leadership to lower costs for New Jersey families. We are thrilled for Governor-elect Sherrill and congratulate her and her team, including campaign manager Alex Ball and the teams at Mission Control, Dixon/Davis Media Group, Wavelength Strategy, Message & Media, and the Democratic Governors Association.
Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger also celebrated a strong election night win in Virginia, flipping the Governor’s seat into Democratic control. Spanberger’s robust performance at the top of the ticket helped Democrats expand their majority in the House of Delegates. Voters responded to Spanberger’s history of service which conveyed to voters that she would put them and their economic concerns first, delivering her a strong 15-point victory in the face of millions in negative advertising against her. We are so grateful to be part of Governor-elect Spanberger’s team and congratulate her and her team on this hard-fought victory, including campaign manager Sam Signori and our partners at the Democratic Governors Association, AL Media, GDA Wins, and Blueprint Interactive.
We are also pleased to have been part of two other important statewide victories. In Pennsylvania, we worked to retain pro-democracy justices on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. This win will ensure that Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court continues to protect voting rights and safeguard access to abortion and birth control. It was a pleasure to work with the teams at Deliver Strategies, GPS Impact, Commonwealth Communications, Fight Agency, and SP Media on this important win. In Maine, we helped the Save Maine Absentee Voting Coalition defeat a ballot referendum that would have made it harder for Mainers to vote. Congratulations to campaign manager David Farmer, Frame Strategies, and BattleAxe for this victory in Maine. Both victories will protect the rights and freedoms of voters in these critical battleground states.
We were also fortunate to serve as strategic research partners for Democrats running in local elections in New York and Connecticut. In New York City, GSG, along with campaign manager Matt Rubin and the teams at Red Horse Strategies and RLG, advised Mark Levine in his successful bid for NYC Comptroller, helping him navigate a competitive Democratic primary to do so. In Westchester County, we helped Ken Jenkins win both a special election and the November general election to become Westchester’s first Black County Executive, working alongside Red Horse Strategies and the Jenkins team. And in Connecticut, we provided guidance for Caroline Simmons and her successful reelection campaign as Stamford Mayor. Congratulations to Simmons’ campaign manager Susan Vogel and our partners at GDA Wins and AL Media.
In addition to our partnership with candidates, we engaged in critical research on behalf of Transgender Freedom Alliance to help campaigns navigate anti-trans attacks from opponents. Our research created a playbook for how Democratic candidates running in Wisconsin, Virginia, and New Jersey could understand the impact of these attacks and successfully defend themselves. We are grateful for our partnership with Spark Solutions on this important work. Please keep an eye out for more information from the GSG team summarizing the lessons from this work.
We are incredibly proud of these results and excited for the fight to come in 2026. All of us at GSG look forward to working with you to help elect more Democrats in the years to come.
