New research conducted by Global Strategy Group, in consultation with Progress Now Colorado for The Mountaineer research project, shows that newly-elected Representative Lauren Boebert’s standing in CO-03 is weak compared to what one would expect for an incumbent Republican in such a conservative district. Boebert is significantly out of step with voters’ attitudes on clean energy, climate change, and Joe Biden’s COVID rescue plan.
Here’s what we found:
- The conservative Third District continues to lean Republican, but the issue environment is far from polarized – and Boebert’s extreme right-wing views are out of touch with her constituents’.
- Boebert is already building up an intense negative brand.
- Boebert leads a generic Democrat by just 2 points and is well under 50% – and she is extremely vulnerable to attacks on her ties to Q-Anon, far-right militias, and the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol
